Incredible: more than 66,000 people didn’t want to miss it! On Thursday, the first day, at WaltherPark, the visitor counter exceeded this number at 10:00 PM. The opening weekend continues with a rich schedule of events – tonight, Friday, at 7:30 PM, the water features in the Station Park will be inaugurated.
The first day included: official greetings and blessing from 9:30 AM, ribbon-cutting at 10:16 AM, shows, music, and entertainment throughout the day, and a light show on the exterior façade in Piazza Alto Adige at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM – all in front of over 1,500 people. Followed by a celebration until 11:00 PM at the Mercato Centrale Bolzano.Bozen,the gastronomic area on the second floor.
The president of WaltherPark, Thibault Chavanat, his team, and the managers of Svicom’s Center Management are thrilled: compared to Bolzano’s population, two out of three citizens already participated on the first day. “We expected a large turnout because WaltherPark represents a very important new urban neighborhood for Bolzano,” says Chavanat. But reaching over 66,000 visitors already on Thursday surprised everyone: even before the ribbon-cutting, hundreds of people followed the speeches and blessing; in the first hour, 8,000 visitors were already present.
And this continued throughout the day. By 3:00 PM, there were over 30,000, and by 10:00 PM – an hour before closing – as mentioned, more than 66,000. “This number is impressive in itself. Additionally, we are very happy with the feedback we received, which has been very, very positive,” Chavanat continues. The shops inside WaltherPark also confirm this – on the very first day, there was a significant influx of shoppers, and the merchants are reporting a very positive outlook. The more than 80 stores, the 23 gastronomic stalls at Bolzano Central Market, and the offerings for sports and leisure seem to perfectly meet visitors’ tastes.
WaltherPark managed the crowds well – also from an organizational and mobility standpoint. The underground parking was temporarily full, but no major issues occurred. “We will continue to monitor carefully where we can still improve to make the shopping experience and overall visit even more enjoyable,” Chavanat explains.
Today, 7:30 PM: Water features inauguration
As a new urban neighborhood, WaltherPark also includes the new pedestrianized Station Park, which, with its resting areas and play zones, has already been frequented by families and people of all ages since Tuesday. Today, a special attraction is added: near the play area, water features have been installed, with 55 water columns that from today at 7:30 PM will enchant visitors with colorful lights and choreographed displays.
Until Sunday, WaltherPark continues its opening program: with entertainment for adults and children, music, welcome offers, and special discounts in many shops. WaltherPark is open every day – including weekends – from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, and Bolzano Central Market stays open until 11:00 PM.
